Placements & Work Readiness

The primary function of the DEEDS Placement Programme is to seek for the Deaf youth suitable jobs as per their aptitude and choice. Sourcing out jobs, training the DEAF youth to become eligible and eventually get employed is the function of this programme. We hand hold our students to help them settle in their workplace.

Work Readiness Programme

Started in 2017, the Work Readiness Programme is a pre-employment programme given to all deaf youth seeking job opportunities. Students are trained in workplace behavior, etiquette and ethics to prepare them for work in a professional environment. The programme covers topics such as personality development, self-confidence, managing emotions and communication skills.

This programme also helps the candidates to overcome fear of attending job interviews and they learn to answer questions easily and to the point and develop self confidence within them. It is especially designed to help them deal with the unique challenges that they will, inevitably, face.

DEEDS Placement Cell

In 2005, the Placement Cell was created to help deaf students find preferred roles that match their aptitude. We have Deaf Trainers training our students as it helps the students bond better with their trainers as they feel united in facing similar challenges of being trained.

We also help the student integrate into the workplace by identifying a mentor and following up regularly, counseling the student, if required. Over the years, we have placed over 1,700 individuals in various organizations such as the Taj Group, the Oberoi Group, Reliance Retail, Max Retail, Out of the Blue, Amazon and Titan, Northern Trust.

Professional Integration Programme

This program has been devised to prepare employed Deaf youth with the right work ethics to adjust, adapt and attune themselves in their new work environment. We continue to handhold our students for a week after they get placed in their jobs to help them settle and integrate into their professional work environment. Managers & employees in the new workplace are also sensitized to the nuances of working with a deaf colleague. Our placement team follows up with the employers and the candidates regularly to check on their progress and counsels them if needed.
