A severe injury to the head at the age of five, led Poonam to loose all her hearing. Belonging to a lower income family group and lack of knowledge, Poonam’s family struggled to cope with her im-pairement. She learnt about DEEDS through her friends and enrolled for the DEEDS Work Readi-ness Program. After completion of the 2 month course, she was placed by DEEDS at a Sahakari Bhandar store. The intervention by DEEDS was to provide her the necessary skills to enable her to start working and become economically independent which she did & is currently drawing a salary which takes care of all her basic needs. Today, Poonam is happy and grateful to DEEDS, for making her life much better and happier.
